Bengali Labra Recipe For Your Vegetarian Durga Puja Feast

Welcome to the delicious world of Bengali cuisine! Today, we'll be sharing a special recipe for your vegetarian Durga Puja feast - Bengali Labra.

Labra is a traditional Bengali dish made with a variety of vegetables, simmered in a flavorful gravy. It's a must-have dish during Durga Puja celebrations.

To start, heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and whole red chilies. Let them sizzle for a few seconds.

Next, add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. Then, add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.

Now, it's time to add the star ingredient - a mix of your favorite vegetables like potatoes, carrots, beans, pumpkin, and more. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and let the vegetables cook for another 5 minutes.

Once the vegetables are slightly tender, add water and let it come to a boil. Then, lower the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

As the vegetables cook, the flavors will blend together to create a delicious gravy. Add salt to taste and a pinch of sugar for a hint of sweetness.

Finally, add a generous amount of ghee (clarified butter) and give it a final stir. Your Bengali Labra is now ready to be served with steamed rice or roti.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and enjoy the burst of flavors in every bite. We hope this recipe adds a touch of Bengali tradition to your Durga Puja feast. Happy cooking!
